A Moot Court is a simulated court proceeding conducted in a law institute where students argue hypothetical legal cases before a panel of judges. It is designed to provide practical training in legal research, drafting, advocacy, and courtroom etiquette. Unlike a real court, moot court focuses on legal arguments and application of law rather than examination of witnesses or presentation of evidence.
The Institute of Law (Faculty of Law) at Gyanmanjari Innovative University (GMIU) in Bhavnagar offers an LL.B. program that heavily features moot court training and judicial mentorship. Unlike traditional colleges, GMIU incorporates mooting starting in the first semester alongside theoretical studies.
